These wrist warmers use a double layer of Xerotherm fabric on the inside of the wrist. This enhanced protection is crucial because blood flows very close to the skin's surface in this area. Therefore, this added insulation ensures your hands stay warmer for longer. 

The fabric is deliberately not too thick, which offers an additional safety benefit. In the unfortunate event of a glove failure, this thickness means water will not flood excessively through the seal.
